As we get ready for a category 4 hurricane expected to grace Florida off the east coast in the next 48 hours, our boys (3 & 5 years old) have of course been hearing more and more about hurricanes. They have also noticed people acting a bit more alarmed. I took a second to ask them… “Do you know what a hurricane is?” and realized the answer was “No.” In the rush of things, my husband and I had kind of assumed they somehow knew 😒. When we got home, we went straight to google some not-so-scary videos on what hurricanes are so they could be aware and ready.
I found these informative, yet short and entertaining videos (just RIGHT for kids’ attention spans) that helped them be a little more aware and not unnecessarily alarmed. I hope they help! And get ready to answer more questions. Hey! They’re kids, they ask questions, That’s what they do! 😉
But first!… a video to parents from weather.com about why it’s good to educate kids on hurricanes.

— Scripture Reflection —
“”LORD, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves. What a blessing was that stillness as he brought them safely into harbor! Let them praise the LORD for his great love and for the wonderful things he has done for them. Let them exalt him publicly before the congregation and before the leaders of the nation.” ~ Psalm 107:28-32 NLT
