I’m Zoe Floyd, a daughter of God, a wife, and a mommy to three little ones. My Bachelor’s degree is in Business, majored in Marketing. My working background includes business administration, project management, event coordination, real estate, and others. I now like to think of myself as the CHO, Chief Home Officer, of Floyd Family, Inc. Seriously, with a family of 5, it is more than a full time job. Managing a full house and family life deserves so much attention that it feels like a business, so needless to say I wanted a cool, and, might I say, very appropriate title 😀 .
Why Intentional Zoe…
My formal first name is Zoeimy, pronounced like “Zo” & “Amy” together. With such a unique name, I’ve had no shortage of nicknames throughout my life: “Z”, “Zo”, “Amy”, and “Zoe” . “Zoe” has stuck for the last several years, and is so relevant to my original idea for starting this blog. Why?
ZOE, in Greek, means LIFE
and of course INTENTIONAL means Done in a way that is planned or intended; Done with Purpose!
So What IS the Purpose of Intentional Zoe?
At first, I really wasn’t sure. This blog has been, and still very much is, a journey of faith friends.
Originally, a few years back, my sister had suggested I start a blog since she thinks I have a lot to share that could potentially be of help to others. Yet, since I had never really leaned into my creative side, the general idea of writing random articles for my own website didn’t seem like something for me at the time. It was early in 2016 that after some thought, prayer, and the amazing and patient encouragement from my husband, Joey, I decided to give my sister’s recommendation a GO!…. on faith.
What would probably be useful to know about my personality is that I’m generally a person that craves planning and purpose behind my actions. In the past, I have thrived when starting off with the full picture of the project in mind or at least the end game. About this blog however, I just had no idea! With the help of my good husband, and my mom, sister and brother-in-law, I came to realize that faith is a strong belief in something without full proof, and I just needed to stay in prayer and start writing. This journey was going to be different for me.
Middle of 2016 was the roughest period of my life, internally. I had just given birth to my third baby, my sweet girl, Abby, and was experiencing deep and agonizing feelings of depression (more about what I did to surpass my baby blues). The more I leaned into this idea of blogging, the more I had to get down on my knees and pray for guidance, motivation, inspiration, stronger faith, and even a drop of confidence in myself to write down my own name. It was THAT bad. Unexpectedly for me, and brilliantly by God, I just felt the need to stay in a sort of consistent prayer mode. I would randomly “link up” to God multiple times throughout the day every day, asking Him questions about the idea: “What do I write about?”, “What is this for?”, “What am I supposed to do with this?”. Wonderfully, little by little, He gave and is still giving me the answers.
By the end of the summer, those answers had been soon followed by some very obvious signs (anything more obvious could have been direct texts from God 😛 ) that were telling me I was on the right track.
“What’s the main answer”, you ask? The purpose and focus of this blog is the productive life of the Christian family unit.
… But Why?
I believe that most of us parents of today can feel that something is amiss these days. Things have gotten so complicated for us that the marriage “Success” rate is 50/50, and dropping right? Yet out of those 50%, how many are really fulfilled and truly successful in marriage? It’s H A R D work, it usually takes major effort and focus which is probably why last I read it was really about 20% of us that are really successful in it. WHAT?!? Well, with the consistent dings, beeps, rings, screens in our faces, moving targets, and all this endless information at our fingertips to understand, keep track of, and organized in our strong yet only human lives… saying that our attention is being highly manipulated and stretched thin (often away from God and the true importance of the family unit) is just the understatement of the century.
A strong, Godly marriage/family unit is a threat to all that is bad in the world. The answers I’ve been led to, lead me to believe that there is a deep need for reprioritizing our lives so we can better live fulfilling marital and family lives, while staying connected to Him and coming closer to fulfilling our Godly purposes.
I have made choices in my life time and time again in hopes of building a successful family life, and have not made it there yet friends. I am happy to say though that after over 15 years together, my husband, Joey, and I, as a bi-racial couple (coming from extremely different cultural backgrounds and experiences) that started off with very very little spiritual understanding, are closer to this goal than ever before! This focus, however, has only seen movement in the right direction after we finally turned our attention and intentions in faith to biblical teachings. God has started a major work in us and it’s finally making sense!
Intentional Zoe’s Intentionality Plan
All-in-all, now as a family of five, we are focused on living more intentionally in line with God’s purpose for us. We plan to live into a priority system that puts God first and Marriage second before all, therefore allowing us to build a solid foundation for our life (hence the white bricks on that site’s background 😉 ). Intentional Zoe is going to house anything and everything I can collect, create, uncover, and discover as resources, tools, information, or realizations for creating a fulfilling, strong, and just all around productive Christian family unit. Along the way, Joey and I plan on reassessing our situation, doing some introspection and a lot of prayer to seek more clarity in God’s plans for us. As part of this blog venture, our intention then is also to share some of our journey while we work on making some intentional decisions in our lives. I will also include posts on general ideas, inspiring concepts, and other topics. I hope that our experiences and wisdom gained can at the very least be of inspiration and motivation to even a few of those that tune in and come along on our journey of discovery.
Something that we will work to keep in mind as we work towards changes and shifts in our lives is that “Many are the thoughts in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails” (Proverbs 19:21).

A huge thank you to the talented Briana, at Briana Lugo Photography in Central Florida, for the family photos. A one hour session with 2 preschool age boys (hint: not very easy going 😛 ) resulted in over 100 amazing photos we will cherish forever! Thanks Briana!
